Last year today: Italy bans dog and cat meat consumption

Last year today on June 8 2019, WDA and Michela proposed legislation to ban dog meat in the Roman Parliament, and held a press conference to broadcast Genlin’s appeal to the Italian people for support. Offenders can be imprisoned for 2 months to 1 year and fined up to 50,000 Euros.

On 17 October 2019, Genlin, the founder of WDA, was invited to attend the press conference of the Parliament in Milan, Italy. Congresswoman Michela Brambilla represented the Parliamentary Animal Rights Organization (intergruppo parlamentare per i diritti degli animali) to support the “International Agreement to Prohibit the Eating of Dogs and Cats” and awarded the “International Dog Lover Award” to Genlin in recognition of his contribution to promoting the global banning of dog and cats.

After the meeting, Genlin accepted an interview with Corriere Della Sera, the largest Italian media newspaper.
