Japan July Special IV: Genlin Founds Dog and Cat Party

In January 2020, Genlin, the founder of WDA, established a new national political party in Japan: the “Dog and Cat Party”. Many other parties claim to be fighting for animal welfare, but most of them focus on human interests. Only a handful of political parties, such as the “Animal Welfare Party” (Animal Welfare Party) in the United Kingdom and the “Animal First Party” (Animals First) in New Zealand, exclusively voice for animals. However, trying to help every kind of animal has led to a weak distribution of resources.

Genlin founded the world’s first dog and cat party, dedicated to the interests and welfare of dogs and cats. The slogan of the official website is “Hopes for dogs and cats”: Hope to achieve zero stray dogs and cats; hope to improve the social status of dogs and cats, hope to develop a dog and cat economic circle, hope to create a harmonious society of human pets symbiosis, and hope to establish welfare policies for dog and cat owners

At present, Genlin has successfully promoted the establishment of the All-party Animal Welfare Parliamentary Alliance in Japan. As a heavyweight member of the ruling party Hidehisa Otsuji served as the chairman of the alliance, and joined the members to submit a signed letter to the to Prime Minister Abe on June 23, 2020, requesting accession to the International Agreement to Prohibit the Eating of Dogs and Cats.
