Thank-you Letter: Dog Meat Ban Included in both Senate and House Farm Bills

The legal ban on dog meat has been included as one of the amendments in the Senate Farm Bill on June 24, 2018 and the Bill has been passed in the Senate on the same day. This marks a tremendous step in promoting legislation against dog meat consumption in US.

World Dog Alliance (WDA) is thrilled with the news. Apart from giving applause to our lobbying team and partner in US for their excellent efforts, WDA would like to show our greatest gratitude to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) and Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) for their support on the ban, in which Senator Gillibrand and Senator Toomey even proposed the amendment to the Senate Farm Bill. The three senators regard dogs as friends and families but never food. This implies that the United States will never tolerate disturbing dog meat consumption in the country. Meanwhile, it sets up a role model to the entire world. WDA has long believed that a legal ban on dog meat in the United States could encourage Asian countries to enact similar law. As an organization dedicated to promoting “explicit legislation against dog meat”, WDA will continue its work on banning dog meat worldwide.

WDA is looking forward to seeing your support and active participation in our campaigns in the future.

Yours sincerely,

World Dog Alliance
